Daya Pomphrey - who am I?
I am also an artist and host a Women’s Circle in Watford.

Through my own personal journey of self-discovery, I came to understand the impact of shame and how it had led parts of my identity to be hidden or erased. By reclaiming my Chinese and Jamaican roots, I was inspired to create Sankofa Therapy— a space where those struggling with self-esteem, identity confusion, and racism can find support. I deeply understand how important it is to feel heard and understood, and I bring this compassion and warmth to my work. Together, we will explore who you are with acceptance, empathy, and without judgment.

I work with adults facing anxiety, trauma, eating disorders, and the effects of racism, with a particular focus on childhood trauma and the cultural influences that shape us. I’m especially passionate about uncovering the hidden parts of ourselves that may hold us back from embracing our fullest potential. My deep curiosity about human behavior and what drives us is at the heart of my work.
My approach to Therapy
Rumi,
"The wound is the place where the Light enters you."
MY MOOD
I take an intuitively creative and empathetic approach to therapy, creating a supportive, non-judgmental space where you can explore your feelings and experiences at your own pace. By listening with openness and compassion, I help you uncover what words alone may not reach, offering warmth and understanding to guide you through your healing journey. My goal is to help you feel truly heard, supported, and safe as you discover new ways to understand and express yourself.
CREATIVE TOOLS
As a creative therapist, I go beyond traditional talking therapy, using tools like visualisations, mythical stories, drawings, and movement to help you connect with your inner world. If words are hard to find, I’ll guide you through these methods to express what’s difficult to say. These experiences can offer deep insights, whether through a powerful visualisation, a resonant myth, or the emotions that arise from movement. It’s all about finding meaningful, soulful connections to support your healing journey.
